Business administration programs cover the practical elements of running a business. Courses explore how financial actors assess costs and financial risks, logistical needs, market trends, and other factors that influence modern businesses and organizations. This broad field draws from a range of academic disciplines, including management, economics, philosophy, social sciences, and mathematics. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, ‘business’ is the most popular major field of study among U.S. undergraduates; in 2012-13, roughly 361,000 bachelor’s degrees in business were awarded to undergraduates, representing more than 20% of all degrees conferred that academic year.
