Local Business Spotlight: Crowne Health Care
May 14 kicked off National Nursing Home Week and Crowne Health Care of Eufaula wants you to get in on the fun.
Crowne has been a part of the Eufaula community for 25 years, and is one of 16 facilities in 13 Alabama counties operated by Crowne Management.
The facility utilizes approximately 160 beds for three main types of care: long term, short-term rehab and respite care.
Long term care is designated for residents that either are unable to care for themselves at home or make the decision to move in the facility as a comfort or other reason. Short-term rehabilitation patients come to Crowne for a period of seven to 90 days, and work with nurses and therapists to get back on their feet and back at home as quick as possible. Respite care services are available for families that need a short stay for their loved one due to caregiver exhaustion, family trips or other occurrences.
Linda Railey serves as Administrator for the Eufaula location, and says her staff are at the patient’s side for any need that arises.
“We offer 24-hour, seven-day-a-week nursing care,” Railey said. “We have registered nurses, licensed nurses and certified nurse assistants around the clock. Everyone that is taking care of our residents have been specifically trained for what they are doing. Our residents are never left alone.”
Earlier in the month of May, Crowne celebrated its nursing staff as part of National Nurses Week. This week, the facility will take part in National Nursing Home Week.
During the week, residents will take part in “God Bless America” themed celebrations, including special lunches and activities.
Railey invites any member of the public to come tour the facility or take part in the celebration. She is quick to remind everyone the residents at Crowne are still very active.
“Just because our residents are in the “nursing home,” it doesn’t mean they aren’t an active part of our community,” said Railey. “We have gentlemen and ladies that go out to church, the store, parties and other activities. Our residents are still a vital part of our community, and we make sure they continue to be.
Crowne’s influence in Eufaula doesn’t end with their residents.
When factoring the facilities direct and indirect jobs, Crowne has a hand in more than 200 local citizens having jobs. Railey strongly feels the staff in Eufaula is second to none.
The nursing home business is vastly different than it was decades ago, and Railey works to rid the stigma from people’s minds.
“I started working in a nursing home when I was 18-years-old, and have been in the business for more than 30 years,” said Railey. “There have been many changes in the time I have been working. If someone has never been in a nursing home or haven’t been in a long time, it is definitely an eye-opening experience to see where the business has come. We welcome everyone to come out and see what we offer.”
