For the better part two decades, David and Cindy Hudson have worked side by side to make their business grow and Eufaula a better place to live.
The couple owns Eufaula Glass and Construction Company since the mid-1990s after David decided his possible career path wasn’t what he wanted out of life.
“My husband, David, purchased the glass company from Bobby Wright back in 1993,” Cindy Hudson said. “He had worked for Eufaula Glass for a few years prior, and was finishing up his degree at Troy in Computer and Information Sciences. He decided he wanted to go in a different path, and be hands on with things.”
Over the last two decades, the Hudsons have worked to bring quality work to the people and businesses of Eufaula, have seen changes in their industry and way of doing things.
“This business is always evolving. When we first started, we did a lot of residential work with window panes, table tops, mirrors and shower doors,” said Hudson. “As the town has grown, we began to do more commercial and store fronts. The industries got in to a lot of stainless steel looks, and eventually we decided to go in to that business – the construction side – as well. That is the main reason why are moving to the new building.”
To keep up with the times, and to meet demand, the Hudsons have purchased a property on Highway 82 and will expand in to a new venture.
“We are opening a commercial door and hardware branch of Eufaula Glass and Construction in an effort to continue to grow that part of our industry,” Hudson said. “We are eventually wanting to grow towards the Auburn area. The commercial door and hardware business is where it’s at right now, but Eufaula Glass isn’t going away. We are just expanding.”
Like all business owners, Hudson wants to make a profit. But to her, being a business owner is more than just the bottom line. She takes delight in being able to assist others, and always tries to pay it forward.
“We take great pride in being business owners in this town. One of our favorite things about being a business owner is having the ability to give back and donate to so many causes and organizations. We hope we are one of the first businesses that people reach out to when they have a fundraiser.”
