    Located in Cuthbert, Georgia, Andrew College is a private liberal arts institution that holds the distinction of being the ninth-oldest college in the state. It is affiliated with The United Methodist Church and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Andrew College offers a diverse range of programs, including Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Music (AM), Associate of Science (AS), Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership, and Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSEE). Students can also pursue specialized certificates, such as the Certificate in Cancer Registry Management and Certificate in Church Music, as well as an online degree in Agribusiness and Communications.

    On campus, students have access to various amenities, including four residence halls, a full-service dining hall, a modern student center, and a well-stocked library. The college also boasts excellent athletic facilities, including an intramural field and off-campus baseball, softball, and soccer fields. Students also have access to the Jinks Physical Education Complex, which features racquetball courts and a fully-equipped weight room.

    Established in 1872, Eufaula City Schools is the oldest city school district in Alabama. Eufaula City Schools is a progressive district providing many academic, enrichment, and technical opportunities for students and teachers while maintaining the values and traditions of the best in public schools.

    The district includes a pre-kindergarten (universal) through grade two primary school, a grade three through grade five elementary school, a middle school serving grades six through eight and a high school serving grades nine through twelve.

    Advanced students have many opportunities. A gifted (enrichment) program is offered to elementary students. Exploratory opportunities and accelerated classes are offered to middle school students in addition to an enrichment program. Eufaula High sShool offers enrichment electives, an honors program and advanced placement classes.

    Excellent special education programs exist in each school. additionally, the Hope Academy provides a modified and accelerated educational program for students behind academically.

    Fine arts and music programs are stressed in each school with concerts and plays open to the public occurring frequently. Along with the financial stability of the district, the City of Eufaula is generous with education funding and helps make these fine arts programs available.

    After School Programs that incorporate technology with tutoring and other activities are staffed by certified teachers in the district and are available at each school.

    Parkview Christian School originally began as a pre-kindergarten school in 1975. PCS currently offers instruction for students in Pre-K through 5th grade. A faith-based curriculum, smaller class sizes, and individual attention to student needs are key attributes of the school.

    The curriculum at Parkview Christian School is chosen to reflect their mission to provide a God-centered, quality, Kingdom education that is both academically excellent and distinctly Christian in nature.

    In preschool, there is a strong emphasis on phonics and reading. Teachers utilize a variety of teaching techniques to make learning an enjoyable and engaging experience.     Parkview Christian School students in grades 1 – 5 take the Stanford Achievement Test each year. Parkview Christian School is a member of the Alabama Christian Education Association and The American Association of Christian Schools.

    Barbour County School System is a small rural school system that provides educational services to children in Barbour County that live outside the city limits of Eufaula. The system consists of four schools, each having a different grade span. The elementary schools are located in Louisville and the secondary schools are located in Clayton. They are the following: Barbour County Primary School (Pre-K-2nd), Barbour County Intermediate School (3rd-6th), Barbour County Junior High School (7th-9th), and Barbour County High School (10th-12th). Students are provided with various learning opportunities that help prepare them to become productive citizens.

    Walter F. George Lock and Dam
    In 1963 the Army Corps of Engineers created the Walter F. George Reservoir (aka Lake Eufaula to Alabama residents, Lake George to our friends in Georgia, and Walter F. George Lake to others) which is the Chattahoochee River backed up behind the lock and dam at Ft. Gaines, Georgia. At 88 feet high, the Walter F. George Lock and Dam is the second highest lock lift east of the Mississippi River.

    This 205-acre public park located directly on Lake Eufaula includes a baseball /softball complex, boat launch, sandy beach, and bathhouse, nature trail, scenic lake drive, picnic area, the community built “Playground of dreams,” and a newly refurbished pier that is handicap accessible.

    Splash Pad Park
    Maintained by the City of Eufaula, the Splash Pad Park is located at 333 East Broad Street, next to the Eufaula Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, the Eufaula Splash Pad Park is one of the newest additions to our city attractions. The park is open daily (seasonally) 10 am - 5 pm to children under 12 years of age. Adult supervision is required. Appropriate swimwear is required. Note: the park may close, without notice, for regular maintenance.

    U.S. Corps of Engineer Parks
    There are 13 Corps of Engineers day-use parks and 4 campgrounds on Walter F. George Lake, a great place to camp, fish, boat, and picnic. The lake sometimes referred to as Lake Eufaula, extends 85 miles along the Chattahoochee River and borders the States of Alabama and Georgia. With 640 miles of shoreline, Walter F. George Lake offers plenty of room for all of your favorite camping, outdoor, and water-related activities.

    Kendallwood Park
    Nestled between historic Barbour and Broad Streets due north of the Cato-Thorne Home, the park features a variety of plants, labeled by their scientific and common names, that attract birds and butterflies. Neighborhood associations, along with the help of the Eufaula Water and Sewer Board and the Horticulture Department, maintain this plant and butterfly park.

    Blue Springs State Park
    The centerpiece of this unique, 103-acre park is a swimming pool fed with crystal clear water from an underground spring. At all times of the year, the water remains at a cool 58 degrees, which is particularly comforting in a hot Alabama summer. Located in the western portion of Barbour County, on State Highway 10, the park also offers picnic tables, tennis courts, campgrounds, a comfort station, a playground, and a softball field. Visit: Blue Springs State Park

  • National Wildlife Refuge

    The Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1964, thereby creating a protected habitat for endangered and threatened species, as well as for wintering waterfowl and other migratory species. spanning 11,184 acres on both sides of the Chattahoochee River, the diverse refuge includes wetlands, croplands, woodlands, and grasslands, which are home to such animals as the bald eagle, American alligator, bobcat, and the peregrine falcon, along with the more common quail, armadillo, and beaver.

    A seven-mile auto tour route, two observation platforms, a one-third-mile walking trail, youth hunts, fishing, photography, and other opportunities are available daily. for educational programs, hunting and fishing regulations, and all other regulations on the refuge, contact the Visitor Station.

    This picturesque, recently renovated, 1,220-acre state park is conveniently located just 7 miles north of Eufaula on Highway 431, adjacent to the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. With a wide array of activities, there is something for everyone. Angle for largemouth bass on Lake Eufaula or relax around a campfire. Enjoy an old-fashioned picnic while the kids explore the playgrounds. Take advantage of the full-service marina with an afternoon boat ride. Lakepoint is more than a fisherman's paradise!

  • Favored Geographical Area

    The Favored Geographical Area Program provides Capital Credit Incentives at lower investment rates ($500,000) and New Employee Thresholds to companies located in Enterprise Zones and/or less developed counties. For more information, visit the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA).

  • Enterprise Zone

    Additional incentives may be available to new and expanding companies through the Enterprise Zone Program. This incentive includes up to $2,500 tax credit for each new permanent employee, as well as exemptions from income, sales & use, and business privilege tax liability.

  • Business Privilege

    • Based on a company's net worth in Alabama and the company's ability to pay.
    • Rate ranges from $.25 to $1.75 for each $1,000 of net worth in Alabama.
    Available incentives include:
    • Pollution Control Equipment Deduction.
    • Air Carrier with Hub Operations Deduction.

  • State Unemployment

    • Employer requirement for the State Unemployment Tax is based on the first $8,000 of each employee's compensation.
    • Rates vary from 0.5% to 5.4%.
    • New Employer Rate is 2.7%.
    • Rates are based on the employer’s experience rating.
    • Employees do not contribute.

    • Administered by the Alabama Department of Commerce and provides alternative funding to conventional bank financing.

  • USDA Rural Development
